a pioneering project that directly challenges the crucial issues of poverty and isolation in developing countries. This initiative utilizes Computational Design as a powerful tool to generate a fully self-sufficient model.
The innovation lies in its integration of sustainable architectural structures designed specifically to enable the cultivation and growth of algae within them. This developed model offers local users a reliable source of clean food and pure water, simultaneously providing protection against harsh environmental conditions such as external dryness and hot climates.
The 4-Step Algae Cultivation Process
1. Preparation & Sterile Growth Medium To ensure a pure culture and prevent contamination from wild bacteria or toxins, avoid using untreated pond water. Instead, use a sterile growth medium rich in essential minerals to support healthy Spirulina cultivation.
2. Photobioreactor Circulation The algae mixture circulates through a transparent, closed-loop tubular photobioreactor. This system maximizes solar exposure for photosynthesis. Maintaining a temperature of 35°C is critical for efficient, high-yield algae production.
3. Harvesting, Filtration & Drying Biomass typically doubles every 3 days. Once mature, the culture undergoes algae harvesting and filtration to separate the liquid. The resulting paste is then carefully dehydrated, transforming it into a premium dried algae powder.
4. Superfood Application The result is a shelf-stable, nutrient-dense superfood. This versatile powder is ready for immediate consumption or can be easily incorporated into supplements, health foods, and green smoothies.
