What the architecture division does, how a project runs, and where we work. Not seeing your question? Email Info@takstudio.net.
What does TAK Studio's Architecture & Design division do?
We design buildings and interiors, and we build and coordinate the BIM models a project runs on. That means architecture from concept to construction documentation, interior design detailed to build, and BIM consulting including scan-to-BIM and clash detection. We are the architecture side of TAK Studio, an integrated practice of architects and engineers working since 2019.
What is scan-to-BIM?
Scan-to-BIM is the process of turning a laser scan of an existing building (a point cloud) into an accurate, coordinated BIM model you can design and document from. It captures real existing conditions to the tolerance a project needs, so a refurbishment, fit-out or rollout starts from measured reality instead of out-of-date drawings. We deliver scan-to-BIM models to a documented standard your whole team can work from.
What is clash detection in BIM?
Clash detection is checking a coordinated (federated) BIM model for places where building elements conflict: where structure, services, ceilings or containment would physically collide. Catching those conflicts on screen during design is far cheaper than finding them on site. We run clash detection across disciplines and resolve the conflicts before drawings are issued for construction.
What is the timeline of a typical project?
It depends on scale and stage, but the shape is consistent: brief and concept, design development, BIM coordination and documentation, then delivery. A fit-out or a scan-to-BIM package can move in weeks; a full building runs across months and stages. We set a realistic program against your brief at the start, not a generic one.
When can you start?
Usually quickly. Tell us the scope and the stage you are at and we will come back within two business days with availability and a way in, often a short concept or survey phase to get moving. Email Info@takstudio.net or use the contact form.
Do you work with clients in the United States and Europe?
Yes. We work internationally. Our delivered projects span the UK, the Gulf and Asia, from UK retail rollouts to institutional and hospitality work in Saudi Arabia. We take on work with clients in the United States, Europe and beyond. Design, BIM, scan-to-BIM and construction documentation are model- and drawing-based deliverables, so they are delivered wherever a project is, coordinated remotely and on site as each project needs.
What makes you different from other design firms?
Two things. First, architecture, interiors and BIM sit in one studio, so the model, the drawings and the details are coordinated by one team instead of stitched together across firms. Second, we design to build: our documentation is meant to be priced and constructed, not just presented. You also get TAK Studio's AV & Technology division under the same roof if a project needs the systems as well as the space.
Do you work alongside our own architect, engineer or contractor?
Yes. A lot of our BIM and documentation work is exactly that. We can lead the design, or support another team by building and coordinating the model, running clash detection, or producing construction documentation to your standards.
Do you also design the technology in the building?
Yes. TAK Studio is one practice with two disciplines (Architecture & Design and AV & Technology) delivered by one coordinated team. You can take the building on its own, or the building and its audiovisual, security and lighting systems together, coordinated end to end.
How do we start?
Tell us about the project (the site, the scope and where you are in it) and we will come back within two business days. A short call, no obligation. Email Info@takstudio.net or use the contact form.
Still deciding?
Tell us about the site and the scope you have in mind and we'll point you in the right direction. No obligation.
